Disability Resource Association
DRA Social Group got started to help teenagers and young adults with Disabilities get together, have fun and socialize with one another. This group is organized by Nancy Pope our Assistant Executive Director, other employee's from DRA and volunteer's from our community. We try to have an activity once a month. We provide rides for those people who are unable to find rides on their own. We have parties for the holiday's, BBQ's and outings in the summer. Bowling and Movie night etc... during the cold months. We're interested in your ideas if you have any or if you would like to volunteer. We're always looking for new faces. If you, a family member or friend would like to come join in on the fun, contact our office. We would be happy to have you!
Social Group continues to enjoy gathering each month which allows them to see attractions in the area and expand their social skill. Social skills are those communications, problem-solving, decision making, self-management, and peer relations abilities that allow one to initiate and maintain positive social relationships with others. We are proud that our social group expands on taking turns, praising other group members, encouraging one another, listening, following directions, sharing ideas, and yes even at times resolving conflicts. All of these skills are very important for every individual to practice in their everyday lives.
