Circuit Breaker Tax Credits

DRA initiated a significant outreach program and began the processing of the property tax credit in 1999.  This tax credit is available to individuals with disabilities having the moderate or low fixed incomes.  The first year, the organization established what was believed to be an aggressive goal of recovering $40,000 in tax refunds for Jefferson County residents.  Total refunds  for 1999 were in excess of $150,000 and increased to close to $300,000 in 2008

Filing for Deceased Individuals

If an individual passed away in 2008, a claim may be filed by the surviving spouse if the filing status is "married filing combined" and all other qualifications are met.  If there is no surging spouse, the estate may file the claim.
